Amsterdam

Ok wow, so Im in Amsterdam, traveling alone, highly confused and having a great time so far. One thing is for certain...I am not in the states. On the train away from the airport to the city center of Amsterdam I quickly realized this and was a bit humbled. I give the woman on the train my ticket
when she walked by and she kindly pointed out that I was going the wrong way on the train, strike 1
next she pointed out that i was sitting in 1st class, when in fact my ticked was for 2nd class, strike 2, NEXT, she told me that the "ticket" i gaver her was in fact a receipt, not the ticket, strike 3. Luckily she was very nice, helped me to the right train, and off I was. Maybe it was the 12 hours in the Iceland Airport, which I didnt sleep any of, or the 6 hour time zone difference but man I was lookn reallllllll lost.

Amsterdam...
Buildings much older than my Country..

Dutch, very confusing for the American tongue.
Beer and wine, cheeper than water of course.
Almost every speaks english because they are told they have to...luck me
BIKES ARE EVERYWHERE!!!! And few are locked,
most just leaning or set where ever, few are locked and few get stolen, there are just so many.
more bikes than I have ever  seen, business men in suits, women in heels and a dress, kids,
parents with kids sitting on the back of the bike, you name it everyone is on a bike! Truly
fantastic. Im so thrilled to see everyone regardless of stature or clothing on a bike.
There are just bikes, rickety, heavy, old bikes, not flashy fixie tech money bikes, JUST BIKES.

Ok so thats cool what else.

Im couch surfing with this girl named Floor, she is in university now and somehow managed to
get an apartment right in city center Amsterdam for free. Shes allowed to live here in-defiantly through
some agency that finds free apartments for younger people. Really cool, and cool for me cause im in city center of Amsterdam!

I got to hang out at someone house for the Eurocup Holland vs Germany game last night, which was great! Just hangn out with ppl my own age and im in completly strange land yet still speaking English and hearing popular US songs everywhere I go. HOW AND WHY? I do not know. There is as much
English as there is Dutch!.

Holland lost by the way, everyone was quite sad. The WHOLE city and country is serious about it!
Imagine a college sports town right before a big game, except its everyone in the whole country! Decorations, filled pubs, loud people, Europe really loves soccer. I mean football...

What I have going for me is a rad host, a bike that I can use, which I rode all day, some new friends
and an invite back when I fly out of amsterdam in Sept.

my hosts bike that she let me use all day!

do you see all the bikes! This is no joke, and this picture is not special, they are like this everywhere!
