OK BIG Post...

So we went over on out 5bg per month bandwidth and I haven't been able to upload anything. These pictures are over a month old and Im just not getting to upload them. We can say what we want about Starbucks big corp BS but...they do have free high speed so Im going to catch up on my pictures for the price of a Tall mint tea.

Waipio Valley. 7 miles from downtown Honnoka'a where Im at right now. This is no doubt a huge energy center on the Island. Super sacred valley. The locals prize this valley and those who live down in it guard it well. Its over a 25% grade 4x4 drive the whole way down. Only 4x4 trucks are allowed to go down and if you attempt to go down otherwise, you will get reamed out by a local as I saw when a bunch of tourists went half way down in a rental mini van haha.

No one is allowed to camp in the valley, except we did BECAUSE our friend pistol Pete as I call him is one of the only ones who outright owns property in Waipio Valley, and by the way won the rights in a poker game. So 10 of us went down a few weekends ago, Superbowl Sunday actually,  and had a blast camping out on the beach. We went body surfing on huge waves. I thought I was the man for a few hours then I got humbled by a 8- 10 footer and stumbled out of the ocean looking like I got punched in the face.

Waking up on the this beach was and will be one of my trip highlights. The moon and the ocean lull you into rest at night then in the morning the sun and the ocean say HELLLO WAKE UP, at which point you go swimming at 6am and its just perfect.

The ocean is always 74 and its just the most epic way to wake up and start a day.
I didn't alter any of these pictures they are just that cool on their own, the lighting at night especially.

There was a fire that wiped out a couple buildings, the main house, guest house, and some others on Pete's property so all that remains is what was the boat house. Still so amazing to hang out in this valley.

Everything is hauled in and out because you have to cross the Waipio river delta to get to the beach then walk about 3/4 of a mile with all your stuff. Let me tell you food and drinks for 10 people is a lot of crap to kayak and carry over hah. Everything, food, supplies, building materials, the list keeps going, has to cross the river in a kayak or a boat, so this place really maintains some magic because it takes effort through planning to get over to it.

So it gets even better. Superbowl Sunday, were leaving Waipio, walk and kayak everything back over the river to the van. Everything is right as rain and were all smiles. THENNN the van stalls out on the way back up. This is no joke, there is barely enough room for one car let alone one going up and one going down. So were basically blocking the whole road.

A passenger van of 10 people, stranded on a very steep, very dangerous road. Turns out the van is vapor locked and were out of Diesel. I was playing guitar for people walking up and down trying to collect donations for fun. 3 Danish people in a Jeep eventually came the rescue. They went on a Diesel run and ended up hanging out with us the rest of the day back at Pete's in Honnoka'a.

Big Island is cool.

Im cool right?

Japanese Glass Fishing Buoys at Pete's house in Honnoka'a from Niihau

Niihau - The Forbidden Island | Aloha Hawaii (where only Hawaiian born people are

allowed to live/visit) Story goes Pete and some others sailed there, stole the old washed up

buoys from a beach and returned with the bounty. Niihau is the smallest island and it is highly illegal to go there. Go figure Pete and co have the balls to sail there and take antique glass buoys.

Pete's place is all the way at the base of that cliff, you have to cross a river and walk nearly a mile to get to it!

The old boat house
